QA/QC & Quality Records
Every item fabricated by TNI is controlled by an inspection and test plan (ITP) agreed with the client at the start of the project. Hold points, witness points and required records are defined before fabrication begins.
Quality control steps
- Drawing & ITP approval – shop drawings, welding procedures and the inspection plan are approved by the client.
- Incoming material inspection – material certificates (MTR, typically EN 10204 3.1), grade, dimensions and heat numbers are verified.
- Qualified welding – WPS/PQR and welder qualifications (WPQ) to ASME Section IX or the code specified by the project.
- Non-destructive testing (NDT) – VT, PT and RT/UT according to the code and the project examination extent, by certified personnel.
- Dimensional inspection – elevations, nozzle orientation, flange face distances and straightness checked against drawings.
- Pressure testing – hydrostatic or pneumatic test to the design code, with test reports and pressure records.
- Surface treatment – weld cleaning, pickling & passivation; polishing and Ra roughness measurement for hygienic equipment.
- FAT & packing – factory acceptance test for skids, cleaning, end protection and packing for shipment.
Quality dossier
| Record | Content |
|---|---|
| Material records | Material certificates (MTR) and material traceability by location |
| Welding records | WPS, PQR, WPQ and weld map when required |
| NDT reports | VT, PT, RT/UT within the examination scope |
| Test reports | Pressure test, leak test and FAT reports |
| Dimensional reports | Dimensional inspection against drawings |
| Drawings | As-built drawings and nameplate details |
Lessons from the shop floor
- Agree the RT extent and weld joint efficiency early – they directly affect design thickness and cost.
- For hygienic stainless steel, define the Ra grade and polishing scope (internal/external) in the datasheet to avoid variations.
- For hydrotests of stainless equipment, control the chloride content of the test water and dry the equipment immediately after testing.
TNI management system certifications and other certificates will be published on this page.
